I’ve said it main times before, but I’m incredibly grateful to the people who have followed and interacted with me. Especially in a time where I’ve sort of “fallen out of love” with roleplay because of some troubles this year. It’s been a really rewarding experience– even more so when I consider the fact that I don’t necessarily play Newt as others see him. So with that in mind I wanted to cover some things that you can expect to see with him:

  • He’s a little feral. Newt’s spent the better part of his adulthood away from cities and is more at home in his case. He’s never been good at fitting it, but it’s only been made worse by choosing creature company of others.
  • He’s pansexual and demiromantic.
  • He is a very sexual being. He can live with it or without it, but he does enjoy having sex and has had many sexual partners regardless of gender. He’s very explorative (and as I’ve said before in the dom/sub categories is a dom.
  • He did help to kill people in the war, albeit not directly.
  • Sometimes he considers letting the creatures act defensively if he sees a human abusing them. However, he intervenes because that would just make it worse though it doesn’t stop him from thinking they’d get what they deserved.
  • Again, Newt does not treat his creatures like pets and his ultimate goal is to be allowed to let them live freely in the world. They’re a little more like family with the way he treats them, but Newt does not necessarily see them as “cuddly creatures” and recognizes that they can be dangerous when pressed into the right circumstances. He respects the creatures and the power they hold.
  • He prefers wearing little clothing because it gets in the way of his work. So when he’s in the case he strips down from clothing for “polite company”
  • He’s more expressive in moments when he can act and not speak– This includes in the case, assisting creatures, dancing, and– yes– sex.
  • Newt is autistic.
  • He is self-aware. Newt is aware of his limits and knows what he will and won’t do. Just because he prefers not to do something doesn’t mean he won’t if there is no other option. Newt prefers not to choose sides, but he will.
  • He’s not naive and innocent. This is a man who fought in a war and traveled to various continents for ten years. He’s seen more of it than most of us will ever- He’s worldly.
  • Newt is quite capable with magic. His case is proof of that. He does not care for dueling and in fact tries to figure out how to disarm, hold back, or outright prevent someone from doing something. This does not mean he will not use offensive spells, but his initial answer is always defensive.
  • Newt is more aware of his surroundings than most people– Even Tina. It’s a consequence of having fought in a war but also having traveled alone for as long as he has. Newt is capable of quickly surveying the surrounding areas, assessing what’s dangerous and assessing means of escape and/or defense.
  • For Newt everything has a use– Including a tea kettle for batting off creatures.
  • He’s curious and likes to explore with different potions/magical droppings/etc. This is a man who carries poisons that probably could kill you all for the sake of finding ways to make them useful.
  • Newt has had many physical relationships but no romantic ones (this also means Leta). He finds himself too awkward and unwanted for such a longterm thing–
  • When it comes to physical relationships he always is careful and makes sure they’re aware of his intentions (or lack thereof). His first time in such a relationship was actually during the war when he was about 18.
  • Romantic relationships put a pause to any physical intimacy. If Newt truly cares for someone he will not have sex with them until they are committed.
  • He has many scars– more than he can count– and some more ghastly than others. He is not ashamed of them and recounts the stories of them fondly. Well, everything but the shrapnel ones from the war.
  • Newt will always do what he thinks is right. Laws for him are just things that get in the way. What is RIGHT is more important to him than being a ministry man.
  • Newt lies. He lies a lot.
  • He truly dislikes and finds humans dangerous and it’s difficult to worm your way in– but not impossible.
  • If he can’t use actions to explain what he feels Newt prefers writing letters and they’re long-winded, often rambly, but full of thoughts he would not likely express in person.
  • When it comes to sex he will never use it to express his feelings for someone and isn’t inclined to have it with a partner who is simply doing so to erase pain. He did that more times than he’d like to admit in the war and has promised to himself to make it something beautiful and not painful.
  • His London apartment is more for appearance’s sake. Even at home he hates the city sounds and prefers sleeping in his cot near his creatures.
  • Newt never actually retires. He’s happy to let people think as much, but he’s still out rescuing creatures, still being tickled at new scars, and everything else.
  • Newt appears small and wilted only in places surrounded with people. In his case, in the wilderness, in bed– He’s far more vocal and sure of himself. In places where he can do and not say he’s much more at home.
  • Finally: Newt is not weak. He can actually be very easily amused when in a situation that people think of him as much. He can tease about how “oh, was he supposed to die to that?” He’s not fearless and he knows when he’s in over his head– But people who act like he’s incapable when he knows as soon as he disarms them they’re a limp noodle makes him laugh inwardly. Because Newt doesn’t need a wand to fight back.
