Hogwarts Castle was always loud and festive during the holidays. It enamored the young boy as much as it set him on edge. Things always got noisier and spellwork in corridors– against the rules or not– always seemed to increase. People enchanting their clothes to light up was harmless. Even singing Valentine’s cards while often shrill weren’t as bad as other things. Such as the persistence of many to play “tricks” during the Halloween season.

Maybe he was just feeling a little bitter as during this particular Halloween he was trying to (secretly) nurse a young grindylow back to health in an empty classroom. And every time there was a loud crash, bang,or whistling outside the door the creature would freak out and they’d almost be caught (and for a water-based creature it could be quite loud if it wanted to).

He’d been far too busy the last few days for anything else– Wanting to make sure the creature was good to return to the Lake that he’d been rather absent. It’s as he’s making his way down to the second floor that she catches him. Jumping out from behind one of the tapestries. He starts, taking an immediate step back as his eyes flash wildly before he realizes who it is.

Newt seems to pale as much as he reddens– however that works– as he exhales, eyes ducking away a moment and then back up when he can’t help but frown. “Please don’t do that,” He mumbled weakly–She should know how he felt about those particular actions. He feels bad even asking as he turns his attention back to her.

“Aren’t you supposed to be going to Charms…?”
