but part of this movie does have to happen after September 1 though, since when the aurors go to hogwarts, classes are in session and hogwarts school terms start on September 1, so I would assume movie takes place end of August to early September?
That’s not what is written into the canon, though. 9 months have happened since Grindelwald was captured in New York (December 6-8). That puts the film in August. It’s completely possible that Hogwarts didn’t always start on September 1st or– a more likely probability: Rowling simply wanted to be able to use Hogwarts as a backdrop for nostalgia (the same reason McGonagall was put in, as Yates said she was there because:

David Heyman: Well, it wasn’t our decision, it was Jo’s. Jo writes from the heart. Once we go back to Hogwarts, McGonagall might well be there(Basically stuff was thrown in because it could be).
Regardless, if it better fits your narative then simply change it to the days of the next month: September 10-11 the Aurors are sent out (meaning that Grindelwald has been allowed to wander free for almost three months).
The movie would then take place between Sep 21-25 and Sep 22-26.
